MEDITERRANEAN EXPORTERS’ ASSOCIATION – MEDITERRANEAN FRESH FRUITS AND VEGETABLES EXPORTERS’ UNION

Established in 1993, the Mediterranean Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Exporters’ Union is one of the biggest and most important export unions regarding fresh fruit and vegetables. Founded with the aim of determining and developing sectoral policies, and evaluating if exportation, production, packaging and quality standards meet International norms, and to conduct work on ensuring the coordination and harmony of teams; the Sector Council, whose representatives are constituted by the Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Exporter Unions in Turkey, have had secretariat services run by AKİB, and in this way function as a Coordinating Union in the fresh fruit and vegetable sector.

The most important sub-groups of the fresh fruit and vegetable sector consist of citrus fruits, fresh fruits and fresh vegetables. The leading sectors are the Russian Federation, Iraq, Ukraine, Germany and Bulgaria.

AKİB is the leader of publicity campaigns and initiatives in order to continue an upward trend in exports, to increase our stakes in our current markets and to enter new markets with our exports; AKİB continues to support the Works and projects of various research institutes by taking into consideration the developments in the world and keeping up with its changes.

The Mediterranean Fresh Fruits and Vegetables Exporters’ Association, which has more than a thousand members, continues its efforts to provide better service to its members and to make significant contributions to the sector.

Cukurova University Balcalı Campus, which was established on 20 thousands decare terrain in east coast of Seyhan Dam Lake, is a natural park land due to its admirable view. The university, which is only 10 km far from city center, is among major universities of our country due to its modern substructure and modern facilities meeting every requirement of its student and staff. At the present time, Cukurova University offers studies to highly educated and qualified individuals via 18 Faculties, 4 Colleges, 12 Vocational Schools, 1 State Conservatory and 4 Institutions. The variety researches and scientific events that our country needs are being maintained in 35 Research and Application Centers. As of September 2018, 2,265 Academic Personnel, 14,762 in associate degree, 33,462 in undergraduate and 7,209 graduate students, are working in the education and training of 55,433 registered students.

The National Citrus Council is an umbrella organization which is established in 2007 that is composed of representatives of agriculture, trade, industrialists, producers and merchant groups.

The National Citrus Council conducts research and analysis on products at a national and international level, develops strategies according to developments related to citrus, and shares information with members and relevant institutions for the implementation of these decisions.

The National Citrus Council has been preparing for the 14th International Citrus Congress, which will be held in Turkey for the first time. Meanwhile, the NCC is working to keep balance of citrus supply demand equilibrium, improving product quality to compete in domestic and foreign markets, providing conformant products to the market, increasing marketing power of citrus and citrus products, taking steps for continuity, profitability, trade, consumption and standardization of citrus industry and reconciliation of sector’s all parties on specifying national policies.
